A DOG has died from kidney failure and severe heatstroke after his body temperature reached 43C during a lunchtime walk in the park during the heatwave.
The greyhound became ill and started panting heavily during a walk on Tuesday, and later that evening had a seizure from the heat and was admitted into a veterinary hospital.
The dog's owner said she was away and had left her pet in the care of a dog walker and is furious that he was taken outside in such hot weather.
Speedy the dog, who began to experience symptoms after being walked in the midday heat, was said to have been taken home in an air-conditioned car - so the damage to his body was not obvious.
